Splatter or knockdown |
|
| The standard for commercial and residential pool deck finishes. Polymer cement is applied to the existing concrete substrate in a moderately textured finish (average of 1/8" thickness) in various patterns. Often times, the texture is knocked down with a trowel to slightly modify the appearance and feel of the finished application .These applications are the traditional decorative resurfacing designs and textures. Splatter textures are typically applied with a air powered hopper gun and are commonly applied to pool decks, driveways, patios, etc. giving the property added beauty, added slip resistance and added durability. Although stone, slate and tile finishes can be easily installed like thin stamped overlays, the actual texture is slightly less authentic looking but more textured to provide a non-slip surface. |

Stamped overlay |
 |
Concrete Overlays are best installed by a professional, but can be tackled by the well intentioned handy person.
A stamped overlay offers all the aesthetic benefits of conventional stamped concrete but is less time- and labor-intensive to install. The overlay mix is usually applied by a gauge rake (a tool with an adjustable depth gauge for achieving a uniform topping thickness) and then imprinted with stamping mats or texturing skins. These semi-flexible stamping tools are available in dozens of patterns.
Similar to conventional stamped concrete, but only ¼" to ½" thick applied over existing concrete or wood substrate of any condition and at a fraction of hassle, cost and application time. The finished look is that of truly authentic tile, brick, slate, stone, wood plank and more.
With this system you can achieve a surface similar to that of traditional stamped 4” concrete. You begin by applying a PCO skim coat. While the material is still wet, you apply 3/8” of colored PCO with a gauge rake. Smooth out the rake lines with a trowel and when the PCO is ready, begin stamping the PCO with the same stamps you would use with traditional 4” concrete.
